Blackberry and shoe-polish aromas hit the nose first, followed by bits of wet straw and a spicy, sweet and minty touch of fresh oregano. Things get really interesting on the palate, where flavors like blackberries, bacon maple and roasted cacao nibs hold court. The wine has nice round mouthfeel, with soft tannins and modest level of acidity. This Syrah is plushness personified. Michael Alberty
