David Hill 2006 Estate Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley)

This has a definite blush color—a pretty pale copper—and intense aromas of tropical fruits and apple cider. It's off-dry—1.6% residual sugar—and finishes with a sugary sweetness. If this is the style you seek, it's done well enough, but it seems to lose focus quickly and the sugar has rounded it off to such a degree that it almost feels nubby. Paul Gregutt
