David Hill 2011 Winemakers Cuvée Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)

A cool year and a northern Willamette valley location have produced a wine with cranberry more than cherry fruit. There's a streak of root beer, coffee and charcoal. The roasted barrel flavors take over from the fruit, which turns quite tart and tannic. Pair this with an oily, cold-water fish such as salmon, and it should rock. Paul Gregutt
