Day 2016 TNT Tannat (Applegate Valley)

#86 Enthusiast 100 2020
Return to List

Sourced from the Layne Vineyard, this makes a strong case for Tannat in the Applegate Valley. Winemaker Brianne Day does not shy away from risk in pursuit of natural, unmanipulated wines, with wild yeast and no fining or filtering. The lush midpalate is loaded with berries and cherries, and the finish is threaded with details of citrus and herbs. One-third whole clusters were used, along with one-third new oak (a Russian oak puncheon). Paul Gregutt
