Deep Sea 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles)

Warm notes of leather mixed with cherry lozenge fruitiness and cigar ash lead the nose on this bottling from Deep Sea, whose tasting room on Santa Barbara's wharf offers tremendous views. The flavor is blackberry with an herbal lift and a tad of licorice, and the mouthfeel is more lean than lush. Matt Kettmann
