Del Rio 2019 Chardonnay (Rogue Valley)

This may or may not have spent any time in wood, but what shows clearly at first is the acidic, steely apple fruit of tank-fermented Chardonnay. That is set against a back half that smooths out with a hint of butter, suggesting partial malolactic. The fruit continues with apple, lemon and pineapple components. This should benefit from another year or two of bottle age. Paul Gregutt
