Delaire Graff 2017 Cape Winemakers Guild Banghoek Chardonnay (Banghoek)

Winemaker: Morné Vrey. A bold yet well-balanced offering, this opens with enticing scents of quince, lemon curd and fresh white peach that are spiced by notes of flint, fynbos and soft wood spice. Medium weight, there's a lifted precision and freshness to the palate, with a vibrant seam of acidity that cuts through any fat of the ripe fruit flavors, while the oak influence only picks up moderate steam through the long finish. It's delicious now, but should start to show more depth and complexity after 2023. Lauren Buzzeo
