Delicato 2001 Vine Select Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma County)

A step outside the company's comfort zone, and it shows. While this is better than much of what Delicato sells, it's not that much better to warrant the extra price. A hint of shoe polish mars the cassis-scented nose, while the palate delivers standard chocolate and black currant flavors and a lean, sculpted mouthfeel. This limited-production bottling is available only at the tasting room.
