DeLille 1999 Chaleur Estate White Wine White (Columbia Valley (WA))

This is a 60/40 blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, barrel fermented in 100% new French oak and aged on the lees with occasional batonnage. This rich, expansive, elegant, bone-dry white wine has wonderful intensity and layer upon layer of subtle spice. Polished fruit, light herbs, a seamless mouthfeel and a creamy, structured finish make this wine just about perfect. It's built for medium term aging, but why wait? Paul Gregutt
