This is one of the most satisfying of the prestige cuvées, following the vintages closely. But this 1996 is exceptional, reflecting the exceptional character of the vintage. It is elegant, finely crafted, with acidity and structure, very pure in its flavors of gooseberries and white currants. This will develop well over the 5-10 years. The wine is named after the 19th century founder of Deutz.
