Dierberg 2018 Steven Dierberg Vineyard Pinot Noir (Santa Maria Valley)

Editors' Choice

The impact of winemaker Tyler Thomas is very revealing on this top-end bottling for the Dierberg family. A deep shade of ruby in the glass, the wine combines lush boysenberry and hibiscus on the nose with a range of earthy herbs. The palate is dark and deep but not overly rich, framed by grippy tannins and bright acidity, and full of black plum, cardamom and star anise flavors. Matt Kettmann
