Dion 2017 Hang Time Pinot Noir (Chehalem Mountains)

The winery explanation for this late-picked cuvée is simple enough—they ran out of tank space. In any event, it led to a most interesting question: What would be the impact of two extra weeks of hang time on the finished wine? Not too surprising, it's riper and more tannic, though not necessarily a better wine than the Winemaker's Reserve, just stylistically different with more noticeable phenolic bitterness to the tannins.
