92pointsDobbes Family Estate 2017 Grand Assemblage Syrah (Rogue Valley)

Editors' Choice

A very fine value, this cements the stylistic link between Southern Oregon Syrahs and those from the Rocks District in the northeast corner of the state. Blackberry fruit is at the core, with lush accents of vanilla, Kahlúa and cassis. The tannins are ripe and the flavors rich, with lingering black-tea astringency. In this vintage 10% of the blend is Grenache, and the wine spent 22 months in barrel, including 19% in new American oak. Paul Gregutt
