Domaine Bott-Geyl 2016 Sonnenglanz Grand Cru Pinot Gris (Alsace)

Along with subtle notes of Williams pear on this wine's nose, it also has pear-scented headiness reminiscent of eau-de-vie. The palate provides a textured, concentrated yet juicy backdrop for this panoply of pear tones. Something mouthwatering about the intensity and vein of pleasant bitterness evokes fresh walnut skins. The finish is intense and off dry. Drink by 2040. Anne Krebiehl MW
