Domaine Christophe Pichon 2017 Rozier (Côte Rôtie)

Sourced from 50-year-old vines planted on schist soils, this is a gloriously concentrated Syrah packed with luminous cassis and blackberry flavors. Prominent oak tones of smoke, vanilla and cacao are balanced by pristine fruit and a bristling acidic edge. It's lovely in its youth but should develop depth and complexity through 2030 and hold further still. Anna Lee C. Iijima
