Domaine Combier 2016 Cap Nord Laurent Combier (Crozes-Hermitage)

Enticingly savory whiffs of leather and fur lend old-world nuances to brisk black-cherry and cassis in this elegant, earthy expression of Syrah. Tasted in early 2020, the wine's ripe but restrained fruit profile is still quite fresh, lifted by crisp acidity and a firm frame of tannins. Enjoyable already the wine should hold through 2023.
