Domaine de Longue Toque 2018 Gigondas

Coffee grinds and charred clove accent ripe, piercing black-cherry and plum flavors in this concentrated blend of Grenache (51%), Syrah (41%) and Mourvèdre (8%). Matured 19 months in French oak barrels, the toasty red also has a pristine core of red-fruit flavors. Framed in fine-grained, easing tannins and lifted by zesty mineral tones, it's approachable young but those charry, smoky oak tones should meld better from 2024. Anna Lee C. Iijima
