Domaine de Marcoux 2017 Vieilles Vignes Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Editors' Choice

Sourced from vines planted in the sandy soils of Charbonnières, the limestone soils of Esquierons and the red clay of Gallimardes, this 100% Grenache is produced only in special vintages. It's full-bodied but gloriously pure in fruit, exploding with pristine raspberry and blackberry flavors and lingering traces of sweet spice and smoke. It's a plump but diaphanous sip framed in firm, upright tannins that should meld as the wine improves over the coming decade. Anna Lee C. Iijima
