Initial notes of smoke and earth are replaced by pert, sun-kissed blackberries and plum with time and aeration. This is a rich, full-throttle varietal Grenache packed with sultry black fruit flavors. It's powerful but subtly nuanced, too, edged by hints of graphite and licorice. Soft, smooth tannins make it approachable already but it's sturdy enough to improve through 2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
