Compared to the producer's basic Gigondas bottling, the whopping 90% of Grenache here lends richer, roiling tones of black fig and crème de cassis. Accented by 10% Mourvèdre, this is a powerful, complex red accented by bramble, burnt caramel and pepper. The long finish reverberates on firm, penetrating tannins. A stunner already, this should improve through 2030 and hold further. Anna Lee C. Iijima
