Domaine la Boutinière 2017 Grande Réserve Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Boysenberry and black cherry flavors are cutting and spry in this mineral, earthen expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape sourced primarily from safre, or sandy soils. A blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, it's full-bodied and weighty on the palate but quite zesty and edged by firm, peppery tannins. Still approaching peak but should drink well through 2030.
