Domaine la Cabotte 2004 Gabriel Red (Côtes du Rhône)

Although La Cabotte's basic Côtes-du-Rhône left me unmoved, this cuvée is worth commenting on. It's impressively dark in color, and marked by floral aromas that reflect it's relatively large proportion (65%) of Syrah. Yet it's also a bit tough and unyielding on the palate, making me wonder about its future evolution. Joe Czerwinski
