The nose is quiet here, suggesting just a whiff of burnt caramel and subtle black fruit. But the palate of this full-bodied blend of Grenache (80%) and Syrah (20%) offers layer upon layer of ripe, pristine black plum and cassis edged by sunbaked garrigue and smoky charcuterie. A lavish but elegant wine with firm, gripping tannins, it should drink well through 2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
