Domaine le Clos du Caillou 2017 La Réserve Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Cellar Selection

Penetrating streaks of blackberry jam and fig are ignited by whispers of cinnamon, smoke and clove in this 55-45 blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre sourced from the sandy La Guigasse and Pignan vineyards. It's an undulating, mouthwatering sip but finishes on square footing with a brace of fine-grained, integrated tannins. Just starting to show it's nuances, this stunner has decades of fine drinking ahead. Anna Lee C. Iijima
