Domaine Lou Frejau 2016 Cuvée XIII Cépages Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

In this wine, ripe but elegantly restrained blackberry and cassis are edged by rustic nuances of earth, leather and violet. A Grenache-dominant blend of 13 red and white grape varieties, it's full bodied but fresh, with sleek black-fruit flavors framed by fine, integrated tannins. The finish lingers on a tang of graphite. Lovely already the wine should improve through 2035. Anna Lee C. Iijima
