A rich, ripe and round wine, this is the first year in which Domaine Meriwether has made Pinot Gris. It's immediately enjoyable, with a mix of stone fruits and hints of papaya and mango. The wine persists nicely and wraps itself into a finish that tastes of juicy fruit gum and more tropical fruits, with a hint of pear skin. It's soft and seductive; definitely a drink-me-now type of wine. Paul Gregutt

What Is Blind Tasting?

All tastings reported in the Buying Guide are performed blind. Typically, products are tasted in peer-group flights of from 5-8 samples. Reviewers may know general information about a flight to provide context—vintage, variety or appellation—but never the producer or retail price of any given selection. When possible, products considered flawed or uncustomary are retasted.
