Domaine Roger Perrin 2017 Réserve des Vieilles Vignes Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)

Black cherry and plum flavors are richly concentrated in this Grenache-dominant blend sourced from vines averaging 70 to 100 years old. Matured in barriques (but just a small proportion new), it's a bold, weighty sip marked by hints of smoke and earth and anchored by a revitalizing frame of acidity. Nearing peak now, it should drink beautifully from 2022 to 2030 and hold longer still. Anna Lee C. Iijima
