As befits this ripe and forward vintage, this special cuvée is rich to the point of voluptuousness—a generous expression of cherry and plum fruit broadly displayed across the palate. The oak treatment (17 months in three-quarters new French barrels) brings smooth and lightly buttery accents of caramel and chocolate. It's a sexy wine that seems best for near- and medium-term consumption. Paul Gregutt
