Domaine Serene 2017 Abbey Oaks Vineyard Pinot Noir (Yamhill-Carlton)

Abbey Oaks is the sole estate vineyard not in the Dundee Hills AVA, and stands apart as a result. This is not a big wine, but it's drinking quite well in its youth, with a pleasing fruit mix of blueberry, blackberry and black cherry. A generous aging program (17 months in 50% new French oak barrels) brings up a lush and toasty burst of mocha through the finish. Paul Gregutt
