Domaines Schlumberger 1998 Cuvee Christine Vendange Tardive Gewurztraminer (Alsace)

An atypically elegant Gewurztraminer, one that achieves great delicacy without sacrificing varietal typicity or flavor. Honeyed pineapples and pears are graced by notes of spice and rose petals. Finishes without any trace of bitterness. Quite sweet, so best with foie gras or cheeses. Drink now-2010, possibly beyond. Joe Czerwinski
