Doña Paula 1999 Malbec (Mendoza)

Muscular, chunky and a bit sun-baked. The nose is smothered by sweaty leather and barnyard, while a bit of everything is accounted for on the palate: red berries, jamminess, even red cabbage. In the final analysis, it's got force but it's not focused or harnessed. Michael Schachner
