Dossier 2019 Syrah (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

This wine was a mystery to me when first opened. The little bit of Viognier (7%) raised its nectarine flag, while subtle blackberry and hibiscus aromas settled in for a visit. After a few swirls, roasted pork-shoulder notes mingled with a sweet raspberry compote. The palate is smooth and slick, with flavors of dark plums, leather and the briny lining of a freshly shucked oyster. The fruit for this debut Dossier Syrah comes from a secret location in The Rocks. Everything about this wine is mysterious. Michael Alberty
