Dr. Konstantin Frank 2017 Saperavi (Finger Lakes)

While a majority of the grapes come from estate vineyards on Seneca Lake, a tiny portion are from the winery's original Keuka Lake plantings that date back nearly 60 years. This is inky and rich in a dark ruby hue, with aromas of black plum, dark cherry and granite on the nose. The palate is juicy and slick yet rounded in feel, filled out by thick-skinned dark berry flavors that show power and grip. While the tannins are bold, the fruit fills out the palate well to yield a burly outcome. Alexander Peartree
