Dr. Nägler 2018 Trocken Estate Bottled Spätburgunder (Rheingau)

Brooding black-cherry and blackberry aromas are accented by crushed minerals and licorice in this plush wine. Black-fruit flavors are intensely ripe and ruddy but hints of cherry menthol and a zippy acidic backbone lend lift. The finish is framed by fine but firm, penetrating tannins. This potent Pinot is best enjoyed now through 2026. Anna Lee C. Iijima
