Dry Creek Vineyard 1997 Endeavour Cabernet Sauvignon (Dry Creek Valley)

A new label from Dry Creek Vineyard, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine released at five years of age. Opens with a blast of vanilla-scented smoky oak, with underlying fruity notes of currants, white chocolate, plum preserves and mint. It's still very tannic, its solid core of cherry-berry fruit suggests aging through 2007. —S.H.
