Dry Creek Vineyard 1999 Meritage (Sonoma County)

There's something quintessentially Dry Creek Valley in this wine, with its lean earthiness and sweet, rich tannins. You'll never get opulent Cabs from this appellation. They veer in the direction of tobacco and sage despite considerable oak. But the wine is layered and very well constructed.
