Dubost 2012 Worth Hill Vineyard Petite Sirah (Paso Robles)

Made by a fascinating family that moved over the generations from France to Hawaii and South Dakota before settling on the Central Coast, this is an incredibly inky and powerful wine. Aromas of blackberry extract and blueberry syrup mix with granite, graphite, lava rock and menthol. The mouthfeel is luxurious, the acidity strong and lasting, and the flavors dominated by purple fruits and spicy peppers. It doesn't taste as hot as it is. Matt Kettmann
