The second Syrah for this cult winery, and again it is bursting with rich, black fruit flavors. A lovely, sweet nose shows mixed berry, gingerbread and vanilla scents, which lead into sweet, appealing fruit. Maybe not quite as big and powerful as the '99, but it's a beautifully balanced and thoroughly delicious effort. —P.G.
