Durigutti 2006 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

Very dark and sultry, its hard, oak-based bouquet showing shoe polish, asphalt and maple syrup. This one pours on the heft and heat, and thus the flavors of black fruit fall into the monster strata. Finishes with licorice, clove and burnt-wood spice. Extremely ripe and oaky, but still a good modern Malbec. Michael Schachner
