83pointsE. B. Foote 1997 Red (Columbia Valley (WA))

This mostly Cabernet blend (85%/15% Merlot) shows some good, tart, black-cherry and cassis fruit in the nose. It's surprisingly soft and toasty for such a young wine. The impression on the palate is light, tart and crisply tannic, and the fruit falls off in a quick finish. Paul Gregutt
