87pointsE. B. Foote 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Columbia Valley (WA))

This is the sort of rustic, earthy wine that should be served from a carafe and accompanied with hearty country cooking. There is nothing fancy here, but the fruit is plump and round, and the flavors seem more evolved than the vintage would suggest. It's a wine to enjoy right now, with no worries about cellaring or when it will be ready. It's ready. Paul Gregutt
