This is big boned and pretty austere at the moment, but it suggests a promising future. For the moment, oak-derived aromas like vanilla and chocolate are in the driver's seat, the plump blackberry and black olive taking a back seat. The mouthfeel is plush but not overtly ripe, laced with dusty, savory, oak tannins. Muscular yet focused. Drink 2021–2028. Christina Pickard
