En Garde 2009 Reserve Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

At more than four years of age, this tiny production (74 cases) Pinot is just starting to soften. The flashy raspberry and cherry fruits are drying out, showing a buttery, mushroomy sweetness. Alcohol is high, giving the wine a pinch of heat that will limit future development, but it's beautiful to drink over the next year or so, especially with steak and lamb.
