Winemaker: Louis Strydom. A dark, intense and flavorful wine, this isn't shy on personality. It opens with spicy notes of licorice root, clove, leather and earth that are grounded in black-fruit aromas of brambly blackberry, boysenberry and plum. The texture is like crushed velvet, with firm tannins that linger through the close. Brooding and full on the palate, with black-fruit flavors accented by earthy notes of toasted spice, bittersweet chocolate and tobacco. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz and 10% Merlot; drink 2017–2022. Lauren Buzzeo
