Faiveley 2003 Nuits-St.-Georges

The wines of Faiveley avoid the raisiny notes found in many 2003 red Burgundies. This wine shows plenty of ripe Pinot character—dark cherries. plums and chocolate—but also astringent tannins that give it a tough exterior. If these integrate better with time, this rating may look conservative, but there's no guarantee here. Joe Czerwinski
