Fern Ridge 2018 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

A touch of salty reduction actually adds character to this wine, rather than detracts. That's probably because the fruit is so bright and likable: lemon, guava and gooseberry are backed by flecks of dried green herbs. In the mouth the acidity is zippy but not searing, balancing texture, juicy citrus fruit and herbs right to the finish. Christina Pickard
