Matured in oak but with just 10% new barrels, Les Miaux is the most pure and unadulterated in fruit compared to the producer's more lavish Hermitage bottlings. Boysenberry and blackberry flavors are joyously plump but pristine, a lip smacking contrast to the tangs of cut stone that linger on the finish. Fine, firmly gripping tannins lend four-square structure. A stately yet approachable wine at peak now–2030. Anna Lee C. Iijima
