Ferraton Père et Fils 2017 Lieu Dit (Saint-Joseph)

Sourced from high altitude slopes of decomposed granite, this intensely ripe, luscious Syrah offers richly concentrated flavors of crème de cassis and black cherry compote. Aged in oak (just 10% new) for 12 to 14 months, it's a softly edged, supple wine accented by flickering hints of cocoa powder, vanilla and smoke. Fine, lingering tannins accentuate its plush feel. Ready now but should hold through 2027. Anna Lee C. Iijima
