Fielding Hills 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Wahluke Slope)

Editors' Choice

This is dark, tannic and smoky, with a tarry tobacco note. Balanced and precise, it blends cassis and raspberry red fruits, matched to appropriate acids and new oak. There are intimations of herb, but nothing green or unripe at all. In a sense this is simplistic, but the simplicity allows the exceptional fruit to shine. Paul Gregutt
