Filus 2004 Alto Medrano Syrah (Mendoza)

A bushel of punched-up red fruit carries the nose, but there's not much oak, character or nuance to hang your hat on. The palate is equally red-fruit dominated, but the mouthfeel is hard and stingy and the wine stumbles to a rubbery, grabby finish. Michael Schachner
